West Bromwich Albion are reportedly eyeing a move for James Collins this summer following his release by West Ham United.

A number of West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports emerging from The Sun on Sunday (08/07; page 61) over the weekend which suggested that the Baggies are keen on James Collins following the defender’s release by West Ham.
Darren Moore’s men are preparing for life in the second tier, but they have so far only managed to complete one signing with Sam Johnstone arriving from Manchester United to replace Ben Foster, who has since left The Hawthorns for Watford.
Another couple of players that West Brom need to replace are Jonny Evans and Gareth McAuley, with the latter released while Evans has returned to the Premier League to join Leicester City.
The Sun on Sunday (08/07; page 61) reports that Collins is one player that Moore has his eye on. The former Wales international is available on a free transfer this summer after his six-year second spell at West Ham came to an end at the end of last season.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the news has received a mixed reaction amongst the Baggies fans on social media. There are concerns that signing the 34-year-old is the wrong move given that he will have to show McAuley’s longevity to become a long-term signing, but the general consensus appears to be that he would be a shrewd addition for Moore’s side.
It was not too difficult to find a large portion of West Ham fans who were unhappy about his release. And while that was also down to his cult-hero status at the London Stadium, there were clearly some Hammers supporters who felt that he could have still had a role to play – and that has left a number of West Brom fans feeling encouraged that he could be a very good signing if something gets done.

Here is some of the reaction to the reports…
