Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier has been linked with the Ibrox exit in the final hours of the English transfer window.

A number of West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports emerging from the Express and Star this week which have suggested that the Baggies have made a seven-figure bid for Rangers captain James Tavernier.

The Gers appear to have something of a fight on their hands if they hope to keep the right-back this summer. The Express and Star reports that Brighton are keen on the 26-year-old, but West Brom have made the first move with a £3 million offer for the Ibrox stalwart.

Darren Moore is looking to strengthen his options at right-back having fielded Tosin Adarabioyo in the role at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night – and it appears that the Rangers star is the man he wishes to get in.

The Express and Star adds that Tavernier is thought to be happy at Rangers, and it seems unlikely that Steven Gerrard will be happy to see the Englishman make the move to The Hawthorns, so it would appear that the Baggies may do well to get something done.

But it seems that there are plenty of West Brom fans who would like to see a deal for Tavernier. The former Newcastle trainee has done extremely well during his time in Scotland, proving to be a real asset for the Gers at both ends of the pitch.

And since the turn of the year, the defender has been given the platform to showcase his leadership abilities, having worn the armband a lot of the time over the previous eight months. That is perhaps why there are plenty of Baggies fans who want to see a move for the Rangers star completed before today’s deadline.
