A number of West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that the club confirmed on their official website today that Boaz Myhill has signed a new one-year deal with the Baggies.

Myhill had initially been released following West Brom’s relegation to the Championship last season. However, the club have announced that he has now signed a new one-year contract after training with Darren Moore’s men throughout the summer.

The 35-year-old will surely be tasked with providing cover for Sam Johnstone and perhaps battling it out with another summer arrival, Jonathan Bond for the understudy role at The Hawthorns following Ben Foster’s move to Watford earlier in the window.

The news has received a mixed reaction amongst some of the West Brom fans on social media. Many are pleased to see the former Wales international earn a fresh deal with the club.

He brings a wealth of experience and has shown that he can be an extremely capable backup option when required, so many feel that it is the right decision to keep him around for the coming season.

There are some who are less than thrilled about the news. With Alex Palmer boasting a lot of potential, some believe that the youngster should be third choice and thus, there was no need to bring Myhill back into the fold. It is perhaps a sign that some are frustrated that three of the club’s six signings this summer have been goalkeepers while other areas of the squad still need strengthening.
