The Hoops began the campaign bidding for a historic 10 Premiership titles in a row.
But it’s looking increasingly like Rangers will end Celtic’s reign of dominance in Scotland.
Steven Gerrard’s side beat Ross County 4-0 this afternoon and the Bhoys had to beat St Johnstone at Parkhead to maintain some semblance of pressure.
But the defending champions could only muster a 1-1 draw, piling more pressure on Neil Lennon.
If Rangers do indeed beat Celtic – who have two games in hand – to the title, James Tavernier will forever be remembered as the man who captained the team to that achievement.
And Tam McManus is full of praise for the right-back, who set up two and scored one day.
Earlier this year some Rangers fans were slating the 29-year-old over programme notes he made prior to a defeat by Hamilton, but he looks much more like a leader these days and here’s what McManus wrote on Twitter.
As mentioned, Lennon’s side have played two less matches but, on this form, there’s nobody in the league who you’d put the mortgage on Celtic beating.
