Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left excited by the performance of youngster Troy Parrott after today’s UEFA Youth League clash against Red Star Belgrade.
The Spurs youngsters were playing at home against the Serbians, winning by a massive 9-2 margin to move into second place in Group B of the competition.
Parrott was key, scoring an impressive four goals. The first was an emphatic close range finish after a clever run, with the second a result of determined striking play. His third came from the penalty spot, while his fourth was a cool late effort.
The 17-year-old has been in good form so far this season, scoring in the opening group match against Olympiacos and scoring twice against Manchester City for the U23s side in Premier League 2.
Also netting three times in two matches for the Republic of Ireland’s U21s side, he’s well on his way towards a push for first-team action.
Patience is obviously required when it comes to his development and he won’t be rushed by Mauricio Pochettino, but if he keeps this kind of contribution up, hype levels will undoubtedly rise.
Some fans are already calling on his inclusion, feeling he could be just the kind of attacking spark that Spurs currently need.
