Some Tottenham Hotspur fans were left eating their words after Fernando Llorente’s impressive cameo against PSV Eindhoven.

1-0 down when Llorente was introduced in the 75th minute at Wembley, the Tottenham striker took just two minutes to make an impact – controlling a long ball into the path of goalscorer Harry Kane.

Llorente could have won the game himself moments later, but saw a header saved, before Kane’s deflected effort snatched it at the death.

The decision to bring on the Spaniard appeared to anger the following Spurs fans…

But there was plenty of praise for him afterwards…

Still, you cannot please everyone…

Llorente has struggled since his £14 million transfer from Swansea City 15 months ago, scoring or assisting just eight goals in 37 games for Tottenham.

The 33-year-old has, however, spent much of that time playing second fiddle to Kane.

Fernando Llorente of Tottenham Hotspur trains during the Tottenham Hotspur training session at the Enfield Training Centre on November 5, 2018 in Enfield, England.

Llorente previously starred for Athletic Bilbao, Juventus and Sevilla, and was a World Cup and European Championship winner with Spain.

Does Llorente still have a role to play at Tottenham?
