Modric starred as Croatia knocked England out of the World Cup in extra time.

England were eventually knocked out of the World Cup on Wednesday night as Croatia earned a 2-1 win over Gareth Southgate’s men in extra-time – and some Tottenham Hotspur fans reacted to Luka Modric’s display.
Spurs defender Kieran Trippier gave England the lead inside the first six minutes with an exquisite free-kick from 25 yards out that gave Danijel Subasic no chance in the Croatia goal.
But England failed to convert any chances and allowed Croatia to come back into the game. Ivan Perisic equalised midway through the second half, latching on to deep cross from Sime Vrsaljko.
Mario Mandzukic then broke English hearts as he reacted first to lash home a loose ball in the England box, with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford unable to do anything to stop the target man’s left-footed effort.

Modric, 32, shone in the middle of the park for Croatia – the Croat’s number 10 showing no signs of tiredness despite playing his third 120-minute match in the space of 10 days.
Some Tottenham fans reacted to their former star’s performance, congratulating their former star after he left Spurs six years ago to join Real Madrid where he has won four Champions League winners’ medals and one La Liga title.
One fan Tweeted: “Modric needs to come home now.”
