Tottenham fans have lauded Cristian Romero for his outstanding performance during their 2-1 win against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Since moving to North London, Romero hasn’t earned the starts he would have liked, with Nuno Espirito Santo opting for Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez as his centre-back pairing.
But after several woeful performances in the Premier League, including that unforgettable derby defeat, Nuno made the changes for the Villa game.
Of course, Spurs had the Europa Conference League game against Mura sandwiched in, but it was a much-improved performance yesterday.
And Spurs fans feel Romero was at the heart of it and they liked what they saw from their big-money summer signing.
Ever since Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen have left the club, they have been searching for that centre-back pairing to take them forward again.
With Romero, they think they have some light at the end of the tunnel and someone who can push them towards their desired direction.
That has been a problem area for the club for some while now and Romero is someone tasked to change their previous, or even current, defensive frailties.
Some may still question Eric Dier at the back, although he produced the goods yesterday, and some are seemingly glad that their new Argentine defender has replaced Sanchez at the back.
