Spurs secured a narrow 1-0 win over AC Milan in Minneapolis.
Tottenham Hotspur earned an excellent 1-0 win over an experienced AC Milan side in Minneapolis despite Mauricio Pochettino fielding a number of young stars – and some Spurs fans are delighted with Oliver Skipp’s performance.
Georges N’Koudou’s second-half strike proved the difference as Pochettino handed starts to midfielder Skipp, as well as Timothy Eyoma, Anthony Georgiou, George Marsh and Luke Amos.
AC Milan fielded a much stronger side, with all 11 considered first-team regulars including the likes of Pepe Reina, Ignazio Abate, Mateo Mussachio, Hakan Calhanoglu, Suso and Patrick Cutrone.
But it was N’Koudou’s goal, who squeezed the ball home despite a touch from Milan’s new signings Reina in between the sticks, that provided the difference.
Spurs would not have been able to grind out such a result had it not been for the midfield masterclass of 17-year-old Skipp, who shone despite facing the likes of Franck Kessie, Manuel Locatelli and Calhanoglu.
His combative, yet composed display boosted Spurs as he sat alongside fellow youngsters Marsh and Amos, and some Spurs fans were absolutely ecstatic with the England Under-18 international’s performance.
