Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to stage contract talks over the renewal of midfielder Luke Amos’ contract this summer after the youngster starred on Spurs’ tour of America – to the joy of some Spurs fans.

Sky Sports claimed on their live transfer blog (Friday, 15:09) that Mauricio Pochettino has been so impressed with the 21-year-old could be given a new deal.

Amos impressed in matches against AS Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan, and the report claims Spurs could even start against Newcastle United in the north Londoners’ first Premier League game of the season.

That is due to a number of Spurs stars still to return from their break after the World Cup, including midfielders Eric Dier, Mousa Dembele and Dele Alli.

Amos is yet to make a senior appearance for Pochettino’s side but has turned out for both Southend United and Stevenage, as well as appearing almost 50 times for Spurs’ reserve side in Premier League 2.

Now, the two-time England Under-18 international could be given the chance by Pochettino to shine in Spurs’ senior side on a competitive basis, with the Argentine handing him a new deal – and some Tottenham fans are delighted.
