Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Wilmar Barrios has been complicated by Chelsea’s reported involvement.

For quite a while this summer it’s been looking like Tottenham Hotspur would sign Wilmar Barrios.
Marca, the Colombian edition, reported earlier this week that Spurs had already touched base with the Boca Juniors midfielder’s family over a move to North London.
The Colombia international is worth around £25 million, though it remains to be seen if Tottenham have even bid for him as of yet.
But could they be too late?
According to Primer Tiempo, Chelsea are also interested and Stamford Bridge is now “the most likely” destination for Barrios, but not until January due to Boca’s Copa Libertadores commitments.
It wouldn’t be the first time that the Blues have pipped Tottenham to the signing of a South American, after Chelsea successfully hijacked the Lilywhites’ move for Willian back in 2013.
