Arsenal defender William Saliba’s former club are flying at the minute – and some Tottenham Hotspur fans are loving it.

Saliba joined Arsenal in a £27 million deal from Saint-Etienne last summer, before being loaned back to the Ligue 1 outfit.

The 19-year-old is in the Gunners’ first-team squad this season but the French side aren’t missing him at all.

They beat Marseille 2-0 away from home on Thursday night to move top of Ligue 1, with nine points from three games – and they’re yet to concede a goal.

And some Tottenham fans on Twitter have mocked the young powerhouse, establishing a link between his exit and their upturn in fortunes.

Here’s what Spurs supporters are saying:

Is this fair on Saliba? No but, then again, it isn’t meant to be.

Arsenal and Tottenham are North London rivals, so they’re hardly going to keep context in mind while sticking the boot into one another.

The reality is that Saint-Etienne reached the final of the French Cup last season with the teenage powerhouse – who stands at 6’4 – in central defence.

Under Claude Puel, they’re clearly a rising team and even if Saliba was still there, they still might’ve been enjoying a rip-roaring first few weeks of the new campaign.
