The 26-year-old was in action for South Korea today, playing the full 90 minutes as he captained his country to a 0-0 draw against Chile in Suwon.
However, Son will not only face a long journey back to London ahead of Saturday’s game, but has played another 90 minutes amid fears that he is being somewhat bled dry.
Son played 53 games in all competitions for Tottenham last season, and then went to the World Cup where he played every single minute for his country as they went out after three group stage games.
The forward then played every game as South Korea won the Asian Games earlier this month, receiving exemption from national service, but then played 83 minutes against Costa Rica on Friday and another 90 minutes today.
Tottenham fans have now voiced their concern on Twitter, replying to the club’s tweet about him captaining South Korea today in order to urge his country to rest him after he gave his service, with real worry that he is being overworked and will be too tired to play for Spurs despite giving exemplary commitment to his country in the last three months.
