Meyler, who spent five years at Sunderland, is a free agent after having his Reading deal terminated early.

Some Sunderland fans are predicting – and wanting – a return to the Stadium of Light for their former midfielder David Meyler, who saw his Reading contract terminated early this week.
Meyler spent five years on Sunderland’s books earlier in his career, but only spent a season at Reading, for whom he played just five times.
The 30-year-old ended last season on loan to the Mackems’ League One rivals, Coventry City.
But could it be their side that Meyler now ends up at?
This is how those of a Sunderland persuasion reacted to the Irishman’s release on Twitter…
Two of Meyler’s former teammates, Jordan Willis (Coventry) and Marc McNulty (Reading) have already made moves to Sunderland in the summer transfer window.
And with George Honeyman’s move to Hull City thought to be imminent, Meyler could be a useful addition to Jack Ross’s side.

The Cork-born played made 31 appearances for Sunderland but failed to register a single goal or assist.
Could/should Sunderland make a move for the freed Reading man?
