The international break arguably came at the worst possible time for Tottenham Hotspur, as the momentum from the 6-1 thrashing of Manchester United was somewhat halted.
A number of Spurs players have headed away on international duty, and some were in action on Sunday evening.
One of those was midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and he featured for Denmark in their 3-0 thrashing of Iceland in Reykjavik.
Hojbjerg played a key role in the win, and inadvertently set up Christian Eriksen to make it 2-0 as he blocked an Iceland shot straight into Eriksen’s path, and he ran clear to score.
Hojbjerg took to Twitter to cheekily claim an assist for the goal, asking Eriksen what he thought of the idea.
Eriksen responded by stating that the assist was all Hojbjerg’s if he wanted it, and Spurs fans sent Eriksen a slew of messages telling him to come back to Spurs and join Hojbjerg.
Eriksen left Spurs in January of this year by joining Inter Milan, but fans still seemingly wish he had stayed put.
Fans begged Eriksen to ‘come home’, believing that he should be looking to play with Hojbjerg every week by making the move back to North London.
