Tottenham Hotspur fans might have markedly less anxiety over the upcoming international break than normal.
As Jamie Redknapp will tell you, Spurs have quite a lot of international players in Jose Mourinho’s squad.
But the North London club look set to reject some of their call-ups.
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham will not allow some players to report for their country if they require a period of quarantine upon returning to England.
This means that Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier, Giovani Lo Celso and Son Heung-min might be staying with the Lilywhites during the upcoming international break.
And suffice to say that some fans of the North London club are delighted with that potential development:
Tottenham’s season is starting to hot up.
Mourinho’s side are in the last 16 of the Europa League and might well have reached the quarter-final of the competition by the time the international break comes around.
Not only that, but they beat Fulham on Thursday to move within five points of fourth-placed Chelsea, who have played one game more.
Now isn’t the time for Tottenham to lose any players, either due to an injury sustained for their country or a quarantine-related absence from flying halfway across the world.
