Speculation about Tottenham Hotspur signing Jules Kounde is gathering a little bit.

It was revealed by journalist Gianluca Di Marzio last week that the Sevilla centre-back is very much Spurs’ number one transfer target this summer.

And now Fabrizio Romano has said via his Here We Go podcast that Tottenham have no contacted the player’s agents about a move to North London.

The North Londoners, who appointed Nuno Espirito Santo on Wednesday night, are going to need to bolster their defence this summer.

Here’s how some fans reacted to potentially signing Kounde from the Spanish side:

Can Tottenham afford him?

Well, the player would cost Tottenham £69 million.

That, according to Eurosport, is what his release clause is at Sevilla and if Spurs pay that much, it’d make him their most expensive signing of all time, eclipsing another Frenchman.

The Lilywhites dropped £63 million to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon two years ago and considering how hit and miss he has looked since then, Daniel Levy may be hesitant to pull the trigger on another big-money move like this.
