Tottenham Hotspur fans have expressed on Twitter that they feel sorry for Paulo Gazzaniga after he wasn’t allowed to leave the club on Deadline Day.

The Telegraph claimed that Spurs didn’t want to let the 28-year-old leave for interested party Everton because the North London club see them as a Champions League rival.

It has meant that Gazzaniga will remain Tottenham’s third-choice keeper up until the New Year at least, with Hugo Lloris and Joe Hart ahead of him in the pecking order.

A selection of Spurs fans believe their now demoted shot-stopper has been harshly treated by the club because they feel he deserves more.

At the very least, they feel he should be a number two, if not, he should be a number one at another club.

But that was seemingly blocked by Spurs and the Argentine will now have to watch from the sidelines.

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer signings

  1. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

    £15 million; Southampton

  2. Joe Hart

  3. Matt Doherty

    £13 million; Wolves

  4. Sergio Reguilon

    £25 million; Real Madrid

  5. Gareth Bale

    Loan; Real Madrid

  6. Carlos Vinicius

    Loan; Benfica

  7. Joe Rodon

    £12 million; Swansea

Even though Spurs have just been through a heavy fixture load, Gazzaniga still hasn’t been able to earn minutes on the pitch and that clearly won’t change during these forthcoming months.

Spurs are fighting for the top four in the Premier League, will now compete in the Europa League group stages, they are still in the League Cup and they will compete in the FA Cup in January.

But it seems Lloris and summer signing Hart will be the men for that job.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Spurs fans reacting to the Gazzaniga rumours:
