Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter are calling on Jose Mourinho to recall Toby Alderweireld to his first XI tonight.
Spurs go into their game at Brighton & Hove Albion on the back of a 3-1 defeat by Liverpool in North London on Thursday night.
And really, Tottenham made it pretty easy for the Premier League champions, with defensive errors costing Mourinho’s side.
Joe Rodon’s mistake led to the Reds grabbing a third through Sadio Mane, after ball-watching from Eric Dier in the first half saw Roberto Firmino open the scoring.
At 31, Alderweireld, who’s earning £80,000 per week, is comfortably the Lilywhites’ most experienced centre-back but Mourinho has only played him once in the Premier League since losing to Leicester City in December.
But some fans of the North London club have called on the Portuguese coach to restore him to his starting lineup against the Seagulls.
That’s good and well, but will Alderweireld return? Probably not.
Mourinho is a massive fan of Dier and although Rodon directly caused a goal against Liverpool, it was still a pretty stellar defensive display from him.
It’ll be a surprise if either player doesn’t start at the Amex.
