Sheffield Wednesday striker George Hirst is being pursued by Leicester City and Leeds United ahead of Thursday’s 11pm transfer deadline, according to The Mirror.

The teenage Owls talent is out of contract next summer, and has yet to commit his future to the club at which his father, David, starred during the late 1980s and much of the 1990s, despite reports earlier this month which suggested a deal could be close.

Hirst Jr scored 40 goals for Wednesday and England at youth level last season and is said to have had interest from several of the country’s top clubs as well as Leicester and Leeds.

Given the Owls’ rivalry with the Yorkshire side, a move to Leicester would be the lesser of the evils if they cannot keep hold of Hirst, who has made only two substitute appearances for Carlos Carvalhal’s side so far.
