The Newcastle United midfielder has previous with Sheffield Wednesday and their manager.

Some Sheffield Wednesday side are urging the Owls to snap up Mohamed Diame at the end of his Newcastle United contract.
Newcastle published their retained list on Wednesday and appeared to suggest that Diame will be among those leaving St James’ Park.
However, The Chronicle claims that the Senegal midfielder could yet renew his deal.
Until the latter happens, Diame will be free to discuss moves to other clubs and Sheffield Wednesday may be among the interested parties, finances permitting.

The soon-to-be 32-year-old worked with the Wednesday manager, Steve Bruce, for two years at Hull City – scoring the goal that clinched the Tigers’ 2016 Premier League return at the Owls’ expense.
However, it seems that the following Wednesdayites are willing to forgive and forget…
Diame helped Newcastle to the Championship title a year after his Wembley exploits and featured regularly in the Magpies’ subsequent top-flight campaigns.
Sheffield Wednesday are thought to want to strengthen their central midfield options having released David Jones and Almen Abdi and seen Josh Onomah return to Tottenham Hotspur.
Would the departing Newcastle United player be a realistic target for Sheffield Wednesday?
