Stoke City are one of the clubs credited with interest in the Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper.

Some Sheffield Wednesday supporters expect Keiren Westwood to leave for Stoke City.

Westwood appears to have been frozen out by Wednesday, who have chosen Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith as their respective numbers 1 and 2 for the new campaign.

Understandably, not all Owls fans agree with their club’s treatment of the 33-year-old, who has served them impeccably throughout his four seasons at Hillsborough.

But the simple facts are these: Sheffield Wednesday must continue to sell players (particularly those at the higher end of their wage spectrum) to stand any chance of avoiding future EFL sanctions; Westwood is the only Owls goalkeeper reported to have interest from others clubs (Stoke included), while if a buyer cannot be found beforehand, the Irishman will leave for nothing next summer unless he signs a new contract (which Wednesday are almost certainly unable to offer).
