Sheffield United made the former Brentford defender their record signing last month.

James Beattie’s status as Sheffield United’s record signing stood for 11 years until John Egan arrived from Brentford last month.
The Irishman, who had previously played once for the United on loan, set the Blades back around £4 million, slightly more than the amount spent on Beattie.
Nevertheless, some Brentford fans were suspiciously happy to see Egan depart after only two seasons at Griffin Park.
And just two games into his Sheffield United career, may of their Blades counterparts can now see why.

This is what they’re saying about the latest of Egan’s outings, in which Chris Wilder’s side were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Middlesbrough…
This is perhaps worth bearing in mind, however…
Middlesbrough took just 25 minutes to score all three of their goals against Sheffield United – courtesy of Martin Braithwaite, Aden Flint and Stewart Downing – the first two of which arrived from set pieces.
