It looks like Tottenham Hotspur have finally found a new manager.
It has been close to two months since Spurs fired Jose Mourinho.
And although plenty have been linked with replacing the Portuguese, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has so far failed to hire anybody.
Talks with Antonio Conte broke down last week and the likes of Brendan Rodgers and Julian Nagelsmann both snubbed moves to North London.
But according to BBC Sport, Tottenham are now in advanced talks with Paulo Fonseca.
The Portuguese coach parted company with Roma after guiding them to a seventh-placed finish in Serie A this past season.
Even though he was sacked, Fonseca is quite a divisive figure among fans of the capital club.
Here’s how some Roma supporters reacted to the idea of him being named as the Lilywhites’ new coach.
Underwhelming
Maybe a little, yes.
Remember, Tottenham were heavily linked with the likes of Conte and Mauricio Pochettino, even after being snubbed by Nagelsmann and Rodgers.
All four are top-quality coaches and would’ve excited the Tottenham fanbase no end.
And given that Fonseca has never won a trophy outside Portugal or Ukraine, having also managed Shakhtar Donetsk, this isn’t going to excite the Spurs supporters all that much.
But it is a starting point and having had no manager for two months, it’s a good start.
