Sunderland are said to be on the verge of signing the Reading man.

Reading fans are reacting to reports George Evans is Sunderland bound.

The Reading Chronicle claim Evans is on the verge of joining the Mackems after being granted permission to leave the Royals’ pre-season training camp.

It was previously reported that Sunderland had seen a six-figure offer accepted for the midfielder, who recently entered the final year of his deal at the Madejski Stadium.

But the news does not appear to have been well received in Reading, with some Royals supporters tweeting their displeasure overnight.

This is what they’re saying…

Evans began his career at Manchester City and had three separate League One loan spells, with Crewe Alexandra, Scunthorpe United before joining Reading in January 2016.

The 23-year-old was a regular in the Royals’ side that missed out on promotion via a penalty shoot-out 14 months ago, but featured more infrequently last season.
