Some Rangers fans on Twitter are delighted with a decision regarding Lee Hodson.

The 26-year-old defender was omitted from Rangers’ Europa League squad for the forthcoming tie with Osijek.

It’s unlikely that the omission is linked to an injury, given that Graham Dorrans and Jordan Rossiter were both included despite the duo being sidelined.

Indeed, Hodson’s exclusion could be considered a clear sign that Gers boss Steven Gerrard neither wants or needs the Northern Ireland international.

Hodson hasn’t been a brilliant signing since joining under Mark Warburton two years ago, and some fans of the Ibrox club are excited about the possibility of him leaving.

The writing was probably on the wall for the right-back when Gerrard snapped up his former Liverpool team-mate Jon Flanagan on a free transfer earlier this summer.

In doing so, Gerrard demoted Hodson to his third-choice option, behind James Tavernier and Flanagan, and it’s never looked more obvious that he has no future in Glasgow.

The former MK Dons ace has only managed 17 Premiership appearances for the Blues since joining.
