What a first impression by Rangers signing Calvin Bassey.
The newly-signed defender didn’t take long in opening his account under Steven Gerrard.
Rangers had a pre-season bounce game against Hamilton on Friday afternoon, which they won 2-1 at Auchenhowie.
And surprisingly, Gerrard’s side fell behind, but it was their new left-back who got them back on level terms, before a second-half penalty from Alfredo Morelos sealed the come-from-behind victory.
Here’s how the man himself reacted to the goal on Twitter – and how fans of the Ibrox outfit responded to him.
It’ll be interesting to see where Gerrard intends to use Bassey.
The former Leicester City man was signed as a left-back, of course, but that was before Rangers lost Nikola Katic to a long-term cruciate injury.
The Croat will be sidelined for the rest of 2020 with Bassey capable of playing centre-back, it’s possible that the light Blues boss will use him as a fourth option for that role when necessary.
