Rangers allowed Martyn Waghorn to leave Ibrox last summer.
Rangers have undergone a host of changes over the last 12 months, as the club have backed the transfer plans of Pedro Caixinha and now Steven Gerrard.
A number of players have come and gone, and whilst Rangers so far won’t regret many of their sales – such as Rob Kiernan, Barrie McKay and Joe Garner – one decision currently looks like a mistake.
Rangers offloaded a host of players under Caixinha, and forward Martyn Waghorn was one of them, with the Englishman joining Ipswich Town alongside Garner.
After 44 goals in 78 games for Rangers, Waghorn was lured back to England, and few Rangers fans were sad to see him leave after some inconsistent displays were forgotten about due to his penalty record.
Yet, with Ipswich, Waghorn enjoyed a superb season, as he recorded 16 goals and 11 assists for the Tractor Boys, becoming a star at Portmand Road.
The 28-year-old is now attracting interest from a host of clubs, and the Daily Star report that Sheffield United have now tabled a huge £5million bid for Waghorn – around five times the amount Rangers sold him for.
Rangers fans have unsurprisingly taken to Twitter to react to the news, with many baffled that Waghorn is now suddenly worth £5million, suggesting that he wouldn’t even be good enough for this current Rangers team even with their goalscoring problems.
Some feel that Rangers have been undervaluing their players for too long now, and Waghorn potentially going for £5million should be a reminder to the Gers board that they should charge top money for their players.
