Rangers fans react with amusement.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is seen during a training session at Lennoxtown Training Centre on April 27, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers sought to clear up the situation over the club’s pitch.

Celtic spent £1.5 million on the playing surface, which is now rotting.

This has come much to the amusement of fans of Celtic’s Old Firm rivals Rangers.

Rodgers told The Mail: “It’s a slight disease in the surface, which has just been unfortunate.”

Rodgers confirmed the Celtic ground staff are doping everything within their power to ensure the pitch remains of a high standard for the rest of the season.

Fans of rivals Rangers had some fun with the developments, mocking Celtic…

On a practical level, the pitch issue is one to watch between now and the end of the season if it deteriorates.

Celtic will not want the surface to be a distraction or impact their style of football.

The title race currently looks like it will be tight, and even the slightest advantage one way or another could tip it.
