The former Rangers youth team player has suggested Steven Gerrard’s side should move for Moult.
Michael Stewart has told BT Sport that signing Louis Moult would improve Steven Gerrard’s Rangers squad.
Moult, the Preston North End striker, has failed to convince since his January move from Motherwell, while Rangers have seen several centre-forwards depart since the end of last season – notably Kenny Miller, Jason Cummings and Eduardo Herrera – leaving behind only Alfredo Morelos (pictured below) and Umar Sadiq in their position.
Aberdeen were linked with a move for Moult over the weekend, but speaking on Sunday, Stewart, the former Rangers youth team player turned pundit, suggested that the Ibrox side hijack their rivals’ apparent plan.
“For Rangers to look to improve and get further up the table then they need other options up there,” he said. “At the moment, they look a little bit threadbare at the top end of the park.
“There has been a lot of talk about Aberdeen and potentially Louis Moult. When you are looking at that level of investment then he’s definitely going to be an improvement to the squad at Rangers.”

Moult has scored four goals in six games against Rangers, including a brace to knock a Gers side then managed by Pedro Caixinha out of the Scottish League Cup at the semi-final stage last October.
