Rangers star Ryan Jack has been called up to Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad to face Cyprus and Kazakhstan later this month, the national team announced on Tuesday.

The Ibrox man hasn’t had much luck with his country this season.

First returning home from Scotland training after an injury controversy that Steven Gerrard blamed on Scotland’s physio staff, the midfielder could later not take part in a subsequent squad call up.

However, excellent form for Rangers this season has kept him in Clarke’s plans and there’ll be an expectation that he picks up more caps in the double header.

For some Rangers fans though, it’s not a positive update, feeling that they’d rather have him rested for important upcoming matches than taking part in international football.

Jack doesn’t have the best injury record and any setback or overuse could see him sit out important fixtures against the likes of Feyenoord or Aberdeen.

With some jokingly suggesting he should pull out, others have bemoaned the situation, despite it all being a reward for his impressive performances.
