The Rangers manager Steven Gerrard worked with the striker before his appointment at Ibrox.

Some Rangers fans believe that signing Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke would be enough to bring title number 55 to Ibrox.
Solanke is well known to Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, who coached at Liverpool last season and was linked with a move for the former Chelsea player throughout the summer transfer window.
And having failed to play at all for the Reds this campaign, it’s possible Solanke could be on the move in the January transfer window.
Rangers, meanwhile, could be in the market for a new centre-forward, with doubts over the future of one of their eventual summer recruits, Umar Sadiq, who has struggled at Ibrox.
And after Solanke’s double for England’s Under-21s on Tuesday – which included a superb back-heeled chip – those of a Gers persuasion are urging their side to move for the 21-year-old.

This is what they’re saying on Twitter…
According to the Sun, Premier League clubs including West Ham United and Crystal Palace are keen to take Solanke off of Liverpool’s hands in January.
Rangers, whose other striking options include Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty, are currently two points off the Scottish Premiership summit with a game in hand on second-place Hearts.
