QPR ran out 2-0 winners over Peterborough United in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday

Queens Park Rangers celebrated their first win of the season on Tuesday night after beating Peterborough United 2-0 in the Carabao Cup.
Goals from Luke Freeman and Pawel Wzsolek ensured the R’s had safe passage to the second round in what looked a potential banana skin.
Both goals came inside the opening six minutes and QPR fans will have left Loftus Road with renewed hope they can translate this performance into the league and kick-start their campaign.
Freeman scored his first goal of the season after just three minutes, converting from seven yards after goalkeeper Aaron Chapman failed to deal with Connor Washington’a cross.

Polish midfielder Wzsolek then doubled the R’s lead just a few minutes later when Washington slipped him in and after adjusting his feet, finished cooly passed the onrushing Chapman.
The Posh were blown away by Rangers’ fast start and created very little until late on, leaving the west Londoners with their first clean sheet of the season.

Boss Steve McClaren will be pleased with the performance and in particular the application of the players. Joe Lumley made a fine stop late on and much will be considered by McClaren before the trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
A loss tonight would have really darkened the mood around W12 but the R’s faithful can remain buoyant after securing the morale-boosting win. Fans took to Twitter to share their appreciation of the victory:
