Toni Leistner scored his first QPR goal on Saturday as the west Londoners drew 2-2 with Hoffenheim

Queens Park Rangers played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim on Saturday afternoon in their first game of their German tour.

The Champions League side scored in each half before QPR salvaged an unlikely result with Toni Leistner scoring his first for the club and Ryan Manning scoring with two minutes to go.

The draw will have filled the R’s with confidence who are still unbeaten in pre-season going into Sunday’s fixture against the same side.

There were many positives to take away from the game and despite seeing David Otto put the R’s to the sword twice, Steve McClaren’s side showed a willingness to get something from the game.

Otto put the Bundesliga side ahead with just three minutes on the clock. Nadiem Amiri forced the save from Matt Ingram in the Rangers goal and Otto stroked home the rebound.

Matt Smith came closest to an equaliser for the west Londoner’s in the first-half but his header was narrowly off target. The R’s soaked up more pressure as their Bundesliga hosts spurned more opportunities in the first 45.

Otto scored his and Hoffenheim’s second with 57 minutes on the clock and it appeared the German’s were out of sight but QPR began to grow in confidence.

It wasn’t until the 80th minute that the west Londoner’s made their pressure count as Leistner rose highest to head home from Luke Freeman’s free-kick and Manning buried home the equaliser with two minutes remaining.

However, all the talk online was for Leistner’s first goal for the club.
