Rangers youngster Ross McCrorie has struggled to make an impression at Portsmouth this week, with the English League One side’s poor form continuing.

Pompey have won just one of their opening six league fixtures, losing or drawing their last four.

McCrorie has been a regular during that period. In fact, the only time he didn’t play was the match they managed to pick up all three points in.

Played in a variety of positions from midfield to right-back, he hasn’t quite emerged as the fan favourite he was fast becoming at Rangers.

The 21-year-old started their most recent match against Burton Albion on Tuesday night, as Kenny Jackett’s side struggled against their ten-man opponents.

They managed to rescue a 2-2 draw, but questions have been asked about their performance, with many fans believing they are playing well below their capabilities.

Sitting in 18th position, serious improvement is needed at the club if they are to climb the table and push towards the top end of the table.

It’s not the kind of start that McCrorie will have hoped for.

He’ll be keen to get dozens of constructive games under his belt this season in his attempts to convince Steven Gerrard he is worthy of a place in his first-team.
