Nottingham Forest earned a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion at the City Ground on Tuesday night in a match that could have gone either way – but some Forest fans are not happy with Joe Lolley’s performance.

The 25-year-old started for Forest on Tuesday night, after only coming off the bench in the club’s opener against Bristol City on Saturday, but failed to make the kind of impact Aitor Karanka had hoped for.

He remained on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes as Forest took the lead through Adlene Guedioura who fired home a cracking effort from 25 yards out, before Matt Phillips equalised with an excellent effort of his own late on.

Former Huddersfield Town star Lolley’s best chance came in the first half, after Baggies goalkeeper Sam Johnstone had been uprooted from his goal. Only a half chance, Lolley chose to shoot and the ball skimmed off his foot, high and wide.

With competition for places at the City Ground intense following the signing of Portuguese stars such as Gil Dias, Joao Carvalho and Diogo Goncalves, Lolley’s display will have done him no favours.

Some Forest fans reacted in frustration to the Englishman’s performance, criticising Lolley as Forest failed to earn their first three points of the season after drawing with Bristol City on Saturday.
