Some Nottingham Forest fans are wondering whether it’s not too late for the club to change its mind on Martin O’Neill.
O’Neill is set to be named Aitor Karanka’s replacement as manager at the City Ground, according to the BBC (and various other media outlets).
However, a new name is doing the rounds on Monday, after his sudden departure from Huddersfield Town.
The Terriers announced David Wagner’s departure by mutual consent earlier this evening, with the club rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.
The German-American unexpectedly led Huddersfield into the Premier League two years ago, before topping that achievement by keeping them there last term.
And the following Nottingham Forest fans believe he would be the perfect fit to lead their own charge towards the top flight.

Nottingham Forest remain four points adrift of the play-off positions despite Saturday’s defeat at Reading, although they have slipped two places to ninth.
O’Neill, who was sacked as Republic of Ireland manager last November, spent 10 years at Forest as a player.
