Bruce’s Sheffield Wednesday side comfortably beat Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Some Nottingham Forest fans are ruing their club’s decision not to appoint the Sheffield Wednesday manager, Steve Bruce, as Aitor Karanka’s successor.
Bruce’s Owls comfortably beat Forest 3-0 at Hillsborough on Tuesday to climb above the Reds to ninth in the Championship table – despite being without key players Barry Bannan, Sam Hutchinson, Rolando Aarons and Dominic Iorfa.
Wednesday were 17th when Bruce’s reign began at the end of January – seven points and as many places behind the side Martin O’Neill had recently inherited.
And, having lost to the Owls, many of a Nottingham Forest persuasion are already calling for another change at the City Ground – with these ones wondering what might have been…

Sheffield Wednesday’s player shortage presented fringe players such as Joey Pelupessy, Marco Matias and the former Nottingham Forest loanee, George Boyd, with opportunities to impress Bruce ahead of what promises to be a busy summer at Hillsborough.
And the trio did not disappoint, with Matias (twice) and Boyd on target.
