Newcastle have finally returned to winning ways under Rafa Benitez and nothing will have delighted manager Rafa Benitez more than striker Salomon Rondon scoring twice on Saturday – but some fans still want Dwight Gayle back.

The Toon earned their second win of the Premier League season, just a week after picking up their first three points over Watford. Summer signing Rondon, on loan from West Brom scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

Venezuela international Rondon joined Newcastle on loan in the summer in a move that saw Dwight Gayle move south in a similar season-long loan to West Brom.

Former Crystal Palace star Gayle also scored at the weekend as the Baggies smashed promotion favourites Leeds 4-1, taking his tally to an impressive eight goals for the season, in which he has also created five in assists.

Gayle was reportedly available to leave Newcastle for £10million in the summer (Daily Mail), but remains on the books at St. James’ Park with his contract set to expire in June 2021.

Newcastle fans were asked if they would like to see Gayle back at St. James’ Park and some fans are keen to see the return of the striker, who has scored 29 goals in 71 games for The Toon.
