Newcastle United fans have reacted on Twitter to Ronald Koeman being sacked by Barcelona on Wednesday evening.
The Toon Army faithful made it clear that they don’t want Koeman anywhere near the North East after his departure in Catalonia.
After 14 months in charge of the debt-ridden Spanish club, Koeman was relieved of his duties when Barca pulled the plug on his tenure after their defeat to Rayo Vallecano last night.
Given that Newcastle are looking for a new man in the dugout, their fans are now expecting his name to be linked to the post because everybody else has, so why not?
It’s probably inevitable and it will crop up somewhere during these coming weeks.
Koeman does have past managerial experiences in England’s top-flight, at both Southampton and Everton.
His time at St Mary’s went pretty well and it led him to the Goodison Park dugout.
But, after spending large pots of money, the Toffees didn’t improve, but stagnated under his stewardship and he was eventually sacked by the club.
The former centre-back then managed Holland and helped get them back on track, before leaving for the Nou Camp, where it went horribly wrong for him.
Either way, Newcastle supporters sent out a blunt message that they don’t want their owners to even think about knocking on his door.
