A number of Newcastle United fans have been discussing the reports linking the Magpies with Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia.

A number of Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports emerging from the Express and Star this week that suggested that the Magpies have their eye on Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia.
Rafa Benitez has, so far, had to endure a quiet window with two signings through the door at St James’ Park. The Express and Star reports that Newcastle want to sign a striker and have recently had their eye on Salomon Rondon from West Brom.
The news that Newcastle reportedly want Kodjia – who cost Villa £15 million, according to BBC Sport – has completely divided the Magpies supporters on social media. There are undoubtedly some who feel that the 28-year-old could be an excellent addition to Benitez’s squad.

His record in the second tier is impressive, with 39 goals coming in 100 appearances since joining Bristol City in 2015, and some believe that Villa’s financial situation could open the door for a shrewd deal.
However, many others feel that a move for Kodjia would be unambitious given some of the goalscorers that the club have been linked with during this window. He has spent a large portion of his time with Villa on the sidelines due to injury, and it appears that he would not be the kind of signing that would instantly capture the imagination if he joined.

Here is some of the reaction to the reports…
