A number of Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter after the club confirmed on their official website that Yoshinori Muto was able to complete his move to St James’ Park after being granted a work permit.

Muto’s arrival has been expected for a little while, and he becomes Rafa Benitez’s fifth signing of the summer, following the likes of Martin Dubravka, Ki Sung-yueng, Kenedy and Fabian Schar through the door with the Magpies.

It has not been an easy window for Benitez, and his frustrations have been felt by every single member of the Toon Army who knew that the club could not get carried away after securing a 10th place finish in the Premier League last season given that they needed an incredible run after the turn of the year to alleviate any relegation concerns.

Benitez would argue that the signs that the club need to spend have been there all summer, but it was made abundantly clear earlier this week just how tough life could be for the Magpies if they do not invest as they were thrashed 4-0 by Portuguese side Braga.

There has been a slight lift in the gloom with the news that Muto has arrived. The club have confirmed on their official website that the Japan international has signed a four-year deal and has been given a work permit.

Some supporters are pleased with the news. Muto’s record in the Bundesliga was decent and some believe that he could prove to be a shrewd signing. However, others have struggled to get too excited about the deal given the situation that the club currently finds itself in.
