Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Craig Hope of the Daily Mail provided an update on Joe Willock’s hip injury.

What’s the story?

Well, the £25m man was forced off with a hip injury in the 35th minute of Newcastle’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Saturday.

Willock is among Newcastle’s most important players, so it was particularly worrying to see him limp off the pitch.

Thankfully, it sounds like the injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Hope claims he’s been told Willock should be fine to face Tottenham on October 17th – the first game back after the international break.

That is excellent news. With Callum Wilson absent, Steve Bruce needs all the firepower he can get his hands on.

There aren’t many players in Newcastle’s squad who can score goals, but Willock has already proven to be someone who can.

Newcastle need more than Joe Willock

Simply put, everyone at Newcastle needs to step up now – there can be no relying on Willock, Wilson or Allan Saint-Maximin.

The Magpies are still yet to win a game in the Premier League this season after seven attempts, and are on course for relegation.

Bruce is just lucky three other sides also haven’t won a game, or the pressure would surely be far more intense.

Everyone at Newcastle must start to play like they are five games from the drop rather than 31, or this season could get even messier.

A sense of urgency is required, or it could be curtains for the Magpies.

For now, let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about Willock…
