Newcastle United have looked to address their lack of cover at both centre-back and left-back by reportedly tabling a £10million bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Stanley N’Soki – and some Newcastle fans are excited.

The Guardian have reported that The Toon have offered French champions PSG a fee worth £10million to land the France youth international, who has starred during pre-season.

Despite only ever making one senior PSG appearance, N’Soki has featured against the likes of Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, before helping his side beat Monaco 4-0 in France’s version of the Community Shield.

Newcastle are desperate for cover at the heart of their defence, after Florian Lejeune was sidelined with a long-term knee injury. More depth is also required in the number 10 role, after Newcastle finally landed Salomon Rondon.

Rafa Benitez has just Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark and Fabian Schar to choose from at centre-back, while left-back Paul Dummett has little competition on the left side of defence. Clark is likely to be his back-up.

It shows just how depleted Newcastle are at the back, and some Newcastle fans are keen to see their club tie up a deal for the French teenager before Thursday’s 5pm deadline.
