Newcastle are reportedly rivalling Celtic for Cruzeiro star Giorgian de Arrascaeta.

Cruzeiro and Uruguay World Cup star Giorgian de Arrascaeta is reportedly a target for Newcastle United and Scottish champions Celtic this summer – but some Newcastle fans are confident the club will fail in a bid to sign the playmaker.
The Sun have claimed that both Newcastle and Celtic are keen on the 24-year-old, who is valued at £18million by Brazilian side Cruzeiro after appearing twice at the World Cup for Uruguay.
He started his country’s 1-0 win over Egypt, coming off on the hour mark before being used as a sub in the 3-0 win over Russia. But he failed to feature in the win over Portugal or the loss to France.
But he has seemingly done enough to impress both Newcastle and Celtic, with both clubs said to be in need of additions in attacking midfield. The Toon have just Ayoze Perez as an option at number 10.

De Arrascaeta has more than three years left on his contract and Cruzeiro are under no pressure to sell their star man. A move would see Newcastle smash their £16million transfer record for Michael Owen, if they do meet Cruzeiro’s price tag.
Some Newcastle fans reacted to the reported interest in de Arrascaeta, with the majority stating that they stand no chance in seeing owner Mike Ashley splash out that short of cash this summer.
