Some neutral fans are backing Chelsea’s Gary Cahill to return to Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

Cahill is leaving Chelsea at the end of his contract and wants to stay in the Premier League, where first club Aston Villa will play again next season.

The 33-year-old played alongside Villa assistant John Terry at Stamford Bridge, while his is a position in which the Villans could be looking to strengthen, especially if fresh deals cannot be agreed for loan stars Axel Tuanzebe, Tyrone Mings and Kortney Hause.

Born and raised in Dronfield, near Sheffield, it was through Aston Villa’s youth system that Cahill progressed.

The England international left for Bolton Wanderers in 2008 and was snapped up by Chelsea four years later, going on to win Champions League, Europa League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup honours.

Where will Cahill end up?
