Liverpool fans on Twitter stated that they now want to see Fabinho playing at centre-back despite his impressive display during his side’s 2-2 draw at Everton on Saturday.

Amid all the many talking points and controversial moments yesterday, it seems the worrying injury suffered by Virgil van Dijk is stealing the headlines.

The Dutchman was on the wrong end of a high challenge by Jordan Pickford, and despite going off injured, VAR didn’t send the Everton goalkeeper off and instead focused on the offside.

Now, beIN SPORTS are claiming that Liverpool’s rock at the back could be spending a long time on the sidelines, which will then leave those at Anfield short at the back if those Van Dijk worries become true.

A selection of Liverpool fans made it clear that Fabinho produced a seriously top-quality display at Goodison.

But that Van Dijk news has seen a number of them point out that they would now like the Brazilian to move away from his holding role and form a partnership at the back with Joel Matip.

Jurgen Klopp has used Fabinho at the back already this season, when the Reds beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge, so he has a taste of what it’s like.

Whilst Liverpool fans were getting excited at Fabinho linking up with the likes of Jordan Henderson and Thiago in the middle of the park, they may now have to put that on hold for the sake of the team.

Here is a selection of Liverpool fans praising Fabinho’s display yesterday and also wanting to play him as a CB:
