If one report from The Sunday World is true, it isn’t good news for Liverpool’s Ben Davies.
The Reds completed a shock move for the 25-year-old in January when they signed Davies from Championship side Preston North End.
Despite joining Liverpool in January, the English centre-back is yet to make his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp and at this stage, he may never get a chance to show what he can do.
That’s because The Sunday World is reporting that the Premier League champions are in the market for two new central defenders this summer.
And if Davies can’t get a look-in even when Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are injured, his first-team prospect look far more grim next season when those three have all returned.
Here’s how some fans of the Anfield club reacted to the speculation on Twitter, with some supporters believing that it spells bad news for Davies.
According to Spotrac, Davies is earning around £75,000 per week with Liverpool.
It isn’t a huge amount compared to some other players on Klopp’s books.
Then again, it could be considered a massive salary for somebody who is nowhere near good enough for Liverpool and selling up this summer certainly makes sense.
