Some Liverpool fans on Twitter believe that they have spotted a big team selection clue ahead of Manchester City’s visit to Anfield on Sunday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to miss the game through injury, leaving a void for Liverpool at right-back.

James Milner started the 5-1 Champions League win away to Porto last night and lasted 66 minutes.

Milner is 35 and playing 90 minutes won’t be as easy for him any longer, but some Reds fans on social media believe that his substitution was due to the fact Klopp intends to use him there against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Here’s what some fans are saying:

Who else could replace Trent?

The German coach could also use Joe Gomez at right-back.

After all, Gomez is who replaced Milner against Porto last night but, that being said, the former Charlton defender, a centre-back by trade, was somewhat culpable for the goal that Liverpool conceded to make it 3-1.

And if Gomez struggles against Porto then the likes of Jack Grealish – a £100 million signing this past summer – could make life very difficult for him.

You could make the same argument for Milner coming up against Grealish but, despite his advancing years, the Liverpool utility man remains a fine player.

And the way in which he contained Wilfried Zaha earlier this month indicates that the veteran can hold his own against the Premier League’s trickiest of customers.
