Well, Liverpool have bid an emotional farewell to Melwood.
It was the senior team’s training ground for over 70 years but on Monday, the gates closed for the last time.
Going forward, Liverpool will be training at a £50 million new complex at Kirkby, alongside the club’s academy prospects.
The Reds leave a lot of history behind at Melwood, with dozens upon dozens of iconic players having trained there on a daily basis during their stints with the Anfield club.
Fernando Torres is one of those players and here’s how the Spain legend reacted to the departure on Twitter:
Torres spent three-and-a-half years as a Liverpool player between 2007 and 2011, scoring 65 Premier League goals in 102 appearances.
But his time on Merseyside ended on a sour note after quitting the club for rivals Chelsea in a £50 million deal almost 10 years ago.
That being said, time is evidently a great healer and some Liverpool fans have issued classy responses to Torres’s Melwood post on Twitter.
